Freelancer Tax Calculator Pakistan 2026: IT Export 0.25%
See how much tax applies to your freelancing and software export income received in foreign currency, including the 0.25% PSEB rate.
How freelancers and IT exporters are taxed
Pakistani freelancers, software houses and IT-enabled service providers who receive payment from abroad through banking channels are taxed on the export proceeds, not on the normal salary slabs. Under Section 154A the rate is a low 0.25% for persons registered with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), and this reduced rate runs through tax year 2029. Other export of services is taxed at 1%.
If a Pakistani company pays you for IT services inside the country, Section 153 applies instead, at 4% for filers and 8% for non-filers.

How to use this freelancer tax calculator
Enter the amount you received from your client, the exchange rate you were paid at (use 1 if you are entering rupees) and the type of income. The freelancer tax calculator in Pakistan converts the amount to rupees, applies the rate for your category and shows the tax and the net amount.
- Choose the 0.25% option only if you are registered with PSEB and your income is software, IT or IT-enabled services exported through a bank.
- Choose domestic IT services if the client is based in Pakistan.
- Keep your inward remittance certificates; they are your proof when you file.
Even if tax is deducted at source, you should still file an annual return. Our guide on how to become a tax filer explains the NTN and IRIS steps for freelancers.
